Alabama Electric Cooperative (AEC)

AEC is a generation and transmission cooperative that provides wholesale power to Baldwin EMC, along with 15 other distribution cooperatives, four municipalities and one industrial member. AEC's 21 member-owners serve the electrical needs of more than 800,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers, which includes more than 336,000 consumer accounts in 39 Alabama counties and 10 northwest Florida counties.

In addition to providing power, AEC also offers a variety of services to its member-owners and offers assistance in strategic planning, load forecasting and residential consumer surveys; marketing and economic development support, engineering and energy distribution support; printing services, brochure development, advertising support; safety programs and training; and computer network support.

The Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives (AREA) 

AREA is a member owned federation of rural electric cooperatives providing a wide range of services statewide. The 23 rural electric cooperatives that make up AREA’s membership, including Baldwin EMC, deliver power to more than 1 million people, or one-fourth of the state's population.

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) 

NRECA is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of consumer-owned cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. The association provides national leadership and member assistance through legislative representation before the U.S. Congress and the Executive Branch and representation in legal and regulatory proceedings affecting electric service and the environment.
