(SUMMERDALE, Ala.) The Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation recently awarded Star Light grants to 38 outstanding local teachers, providing funding to help bring their creative classroom ideas to life.
These grants are made possible through Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up program, which collects money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills to the next highest dollar amount. The funds collected through the program allow the Foundation to support meaningful charitable initiatives.
Now in its 15th year, the Star Light Award program was established by the Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation Board in 2011 to support teachers and enhance learning experiences in local schools.
Before being named a winner, each teacher submitted an application describing his or her project for the board to review.
This year’s Star Light Award recipients are:
