Baldwin EMC is excited to announce the latest recipients of the Shining Star Student award. These students were nominated for displaying characteristics of integrity, innovation, accountability and commitment to community.
Briley “Tessa” Horton, an eighth-grade student at Spanish Fort Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for December. She was nominated by her science teacher, Stacey Frye.
Frye wrote in her nomination that Tessa is a student who is wise beyond her years. “Tessa is not only academically gifted, but she is also creative, kind, determined, adventurous, innovative, a team player and a problem solver,” wrote Frye. “She looks out for students and her teachers and is always willing to help without even being asked.”
Brennan Norris, an eighth-grade student at Foley Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for January. She was nominated by two of her teachers, Marilyn Ward and Stacey Taylor.
Ward wrote, “Brennan is the true epitome of a Shining Star. She is kind and strives to ensure that all students feel welcome and seen at school.”
Taylor wrote, “Brennan Norris is a wonderful person. Her positive influence and strong leadership set an admirable example for her peers and makes her a true Shining Star.”
The awards were presented by WALA FOX 10 TVs Meteorologist Nicholas Herboso and Baldwin EMCs Education and Public Relations Specialist Caroline Shanor.
