(SUMMERDALE, Ala.) – The Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation recently awarded grants to four local agencies. Those agencies include the following:
- One More Moment, Inc, in support of the organization’s resources and training programs for parents of children facing mental health challenges.
- The Arc of the Gulf Coast Alabama, which provides services, advocacy and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Baldwin County.
- Liberty Learning Foundation, in support of the organization’s civics and character-building programs for elementary school students in Baldwin and Southern Monroe Counties.
- Family Promise of Baldwin County, which provides transitional housing, case management and support services to local families experiencing homelessness.
Since 2004, Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up program has collected money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills to the next highest dollar amount. The extra change is then used to fund grants. To date, the program has distributed more than $7 million in grants to local agencies and individuals in need. Grants must meet one of six qualifying categories: food, clothing, shelter, health, environment, and education.
