Baldwin EMC Crews to Assist North East Mississippi Electric Power Association with Power Restoration

Baldwin EMC is sending 27 employees to assist North East Mississippi Electric Power Association in Oxford, MS, with power restoration efforts following Winter Storm Fern. The storm caused significant damage to their system, and at the peak of the outages, 95% of more than 30,000 meters were without power.

Baldwin EMC crews departed from the co-op’s Summerdale headquarters on Tuesday, January 27.

“At the heart of the cooperative model is service. While our priority is always our members, the principle of Cooperation Among Cooperatives reminds us that our responsibility sometimes reaches beyond our own service area,” said Baldwin EMC CEO Hunter Robinson. “When a fellow co-op needs help, we’re committed to answering that call. We’re proud to deploy our crews and resources, knowing that this spirit of mutual support strengthens all cooperatives, today and when we’re the ones in need.”

North East Mississippi Electric Power Association serves parts of Lafayette, Marshall, Union, Pontotoc, and Benton counties.

Baldwin EMC is part of a nationwide network of electric cooperatives that assist each other in times of natural disasters. Baldwin EMC has provided assistance numerous times to other cooperatives across the southeast following hurricanes, tornadoes and ice storms.
