Baldwin EMC is sending employees to assist Pioneer Electric Cooperative in Greenville, Ala., with their power restoration efforts after severe weather impacted the area. The crews departed on Thursday, June 15.
Pioneer Electric Cooperative’s service area sustained significant damage following the destructive storms, leaving nearly 80 percent of their members without power. The co-op is expecting the restoration process to take several days.
“When Hurricane Sally impacted our area in 2020, employees from Pioneer Electric Cooperative traveled to help us restore power,” says Baldwin EMC CEO Karen Moore. “We will never forget how grateful we were for the help we received, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to be there for them in their time of need.”
Baldwin EMC is part of a nationwide network of electric cooperatives that assist each other in times of natural disasters. Baldwin EMC has provided assistance numerous times to other cooperatives across the southeast following hurricanes, tornadoes and ice storms.
