Baldwin EMC is excited to announce the latest recipients of the Shining Star Student award. These students were nominated for displaying the Touchstone Energy characteristics of integrity, innovation, accountability and commitment to community.
Chrislyn Geck, a seventh-grade student at Bay Minette Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for April. She was nominated by her teacher, Marie Carpinone.
Carpinone wrote in her nomination that Geck is a Red Ribbon leader and a straight A student. “She is a hard worker every day. She led a stuffed animal drive where classrooms, collected new and used stuffed animals to donate to the police department,” wrote Carpinone.
Blaine Horton, an eighth-grade student at Spanish Fort Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for May. He was nominated by the school’s principal, Leslie Wheeler.
Wheeler describes Horton has as an exemplary middle school student who always does the right thing and leads by example. “He is the most respectful student that I have ever encountered in my 20 plus years in education. He amazes me with how kind he is to everyone he meets, even those he does not know. He strives for excellence in everything that he does inside and outside the classroom,” wrote Wheeler.
The awards were presented by WALA FOX 10 TVs Vanessa Pacheco and Baldwin EMCs Manager of Communications and Public Relations Kim Frank.
