Baldwin EMC is excited to announce the latest recipients of the Shining Star Student award. These students were nominated for displaying the Touchstone Energy characteristics of integrity, innovation, accountability and commitment to community.
Abbie Markem, a seventh grade student at Summerdale School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for April. She was nominated by faculty member Haley Hrabovsky.
Ms. Hrabovsky wrote in her nomination, “Abbie is a very hardworking student. She has progressed so much this year. I am so proud of Abbie’s dedication to succeed in math class, and her school pride. She has also put forth hours of time outside of practice to improve her soccer skills, without ever being asked to do so. Abbie’s dedication to both her academics and athletics is certainly something to be proud of.” Markem was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.
Christiana Holmes-Buchanan, a seventh grade student at Foley Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for May. She was nominated by faculty member Ginger Fitzgerald.
Ms. Fitzgerald wrote in her nomination, “Christiana is a student athlete who also works diligently to keep up with her assignments and make good grades. She is incredibly mature and focused on doing her best each day, whether in class, with friends, or on the field. The most exciting part of watching Christiana grow is watching her use innate motivation and a sense of competition to achieve her personal academic goals!” Holmes-Buchanan was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.
The awards were presented by WALA FOX 10 TV’s meteorologist Michael White and Baldwin EMC representative Kim Frank.
