Baldwin EMC is excited to announce the latest recipients of the Shining Star Student award. These students were nominated for displaying the characteristics of integrity, innovation, accountability and commitment to community.
Taylor Murray, an eighth-grade student at Central Baldwin Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for August. She was nominated by the school’s band director, David Collins.
In Taylor’s nomination, Collins described her as determined and hard working. “Taylor’s determination to continue being the best musician in the CBMS Band is admirable. She pushed herself and made the All-District, and even became an alternate for the Alabama All-State Band,” wrote Collins. “She does all of this while continuing to soar above and beyond on her grades and being a peer helper at the school.”
Lucas Diaz, an eighth-grade student at Foley Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for September. He was nominated by his teacher, Marilyn Ward.
Ward wrote in her nomination that Lucas is kind and always eager to help others. “Lucas lights up a room with his kind and generous personality. He is the first to volunteer to help a teacher and is eager to help his fellow classmates succeed,” wrote Ward. “Lucas jumps in to help with translations with fellow Spanish speaking students and embraces his role as a peer helper. He truly represents the best of Foley Middle School and his community.”
The awards were presented by WALA FOX 10 TVs Meteorologist Nicholas Herboso and Baldwin EMCs Education and Public Relations Specialist Caroline Smith.
