



Baldwin EMC is excited to announce the latest recipients of the Shining Star Student award. These students were nominated for displaying the Touchstone Energy characteristics of integrity, innovation, accountability and commitment to community.
Molly Dillon, an eighth grade student at Foley Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for February. She was nominated by faculty member Sarah Thorjusen.
Ms. Thorjusen wrote in her nomination, “Molly always goes above and beyond to help all of her classmates and faculty at the school. She always has a great attitude and is always positive to everybody in the hallway and classroom. She is very hardworking, not only completing her assignments but exceeding her teachers’ expectations.” Dillon was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.
Hector McMillan, an eighth grade student from Bay Minette Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for March. He was nominated by faculty member Lynn Mitchem.
Ms. Mitchem wrote in her nomination, “Hector is a very giving young man. He worked very hard with his grandmother to help raise money for students to attend field trips. He never wanted anyone to do without. He also has helped his grandmother cook and serve food to our faculty and staff on more than one occasion. He is willing to help in any way possible.” McMillan was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.
Jennifer Obispo, an eighth grade student from Central Baldwin Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for April. She was nominated by faculty member David Mugovero.
Mr. Mugovero wrote in his nomination, “Jennifer is a wonderful student that is a role model to others. She is always in a great mood and has a positive impact on everyone around her. What makes Jennifer an excellent candidate is the kindness and consideration she shows for others. Jennifer has been an asset in the classroom and is always willing to help.” Obispo was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.
Chase Boehm, a seventh grade student from Summerdale School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for May. He was nominated by faculty member Virginia Bodden.
Ms. Bodden wrote in her nomination, “Chase is such a wonderful example to others. He is constantly thinking of others at school and in the community by offering assistance in any way he can. Chase steps in when others are being bullied and offers help to struggling students in school. He is always honest, responsible, dependable, kind and sincere.” Boehm was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.
The awards were presented by WALA FOX 10 TV’s meteorologist Michael White, who also delivered a weather presentation to each recipient’s class.
