New board officers were elected during PowerSouth’s board meeting Oct. 24.
Officers include new Board Chairman Bucky Jakins, Vice Chairman Stan Wilson and Secretary/Treasurer Randy Brannon.
Jakins, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Baldwin EMC in Summerdale, Ala., received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University. He joined PowerSouth’s board in November 2000, and he has served more than 40 years in the electric utility industry. He served as the board’s Secretary/Treasurer in 2013-2012, and Vice Chairman in 2014.
Jakins currently serves on the Corporate Planning and Power Supply Committee. He served previously on PowerSouth’s Marketing and Industrial Development, Marketing and Economic Development, Engineering and Operations, Member Relations and Strategic Planning, and Nominating Committees.
Wilson serves as CEO and General Manager of Clarke-Washington EMC. A graduate of Auburn University, he has been a member of the PowerSouth board since 1990. He currently serves on the Marketing and Economic Development and Executive Committees, and he served as the board’s Secretary/Treasurer in 2014. He served previously on the Engineering and Operations, Finance and Audit, and Corporate Planning and Power Supply Committees.
Brannon serves Pea River EC as General Manager. He has been on PowerSouth’s board since 1995. He is a graduate of Troy University and has worked for Pea River EC for 45 years.
Brannon currently serves on PowerSouth’s Member Relations and External Affairs, Executive, and Corporate Planning and Power Supply Committees. He served previously on the Engineering and Operations, Nominating, and Finance and Audit Committees.
PowerSouth’s 40-member board of trustees is composed of two voting delegates from each of the Cooperative’s 20 distribution members. Together, they govern and set the policies by which they operate.
