The Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation presented grants to three local charities in December. These grants were made possible through Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up program, which collects money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills to the next highest dollar amount, with the extra change used to fund grants. Grants must meet one of the six qualifying categories which are food, clothing, shelter, health, environment and education.
Grants were presented to the following organizations:
- Alabama Sheriffs Baldwin County Boys Ranch, which provides a home for young men who come from unfortunate circumstances
- Habitat for Humanity of Baldwin County, which builds and remodels housing for low-income families
- Youth-Reach Gulf Coast, a residential program which addresses the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of at-risk young men
