The Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation recently presented grants to four local charitable agencies. Those agencies include the following:
- Under His Wings provides a loving Christian home to teenage girls of trauma where they receive counseling and therapy services to overcome obstacles and develop life skills essential to wholeness.
- United Way of Baldwin County provides support for 30 nonprofit health and human services agencies and works to build, grow and enhance the well-being of citizens in Baldwin County.
- Family Promise of Baldwin County provides temporary shelter, transitional housing and support to families with children experiencing homelessness and assists them with finding and obtaining suitable and permanent housing.
- Baldwin County Sheriff’s Boys Ranch is a Christian home providing care for boys who are innocent victims of failed family situations. The ranch provides a safe and structured environment where the boys can develop spiritually, emotionally and physically and take control of their lives.
Since 2004, Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up program has collected money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills to the next highest dollar amount. The extra change is then used to fund grants. To date, the program has distributed more than $6.5 million in grants to local agencies and individuals in need. Grants must meet one of six qualifying categories: food, clothing, shelter, health, environment, and education.
