Operation Round Up Presents Grants to Four Local Agencies

The Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation recently presented grants to four local agencies. Those agencies include the following:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast and their Baldwin County BIG Futures program, which creates one-to-one mentoring relationships for local children.
  • North Baldwin White Christmas, which provides emergency aid for low-income families and assistance with Christmas gifts for children in the north Baldwin area.
  • Baldwin Family Village, a residential living facility and coaching program for single women and mothers facing homelessness.
  • Baldwin County Education Coalition and their Palm Project, which provides supplies and resources for children in Baldwin County’s public schools, including Gulf Shores and Orange Beach city schools.

Since 2004, Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up program has collected money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills to the next highest dollar amount. The extra change is then used to fund grants. To date, the program has distributed more than $6.9 million in grants to local agencies and individuals in need. Grants must meet one of six qualifying categories: food, clothing, shelter, health, environment, and education.
