The Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation recently presented grants to four local agencies. Those agencies include the following:
- Alabama Free Clinic, which received a grant to support medical care for underserved and uninsured residents of Baldwin County.
- One More Moment, to help fund the organization’s outreach and support programs for families of young people facing mental health challenges.
- Under His Wings, which received a grant to support residential care and counseling for young women recovering from personal trauma and other adversities.
- United Way of Baldwin County, to help fund emergency aid programs for Baldwin County residents.
Since 2004, Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up program has collected money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills to the next highest dollar amount. The extra change is then used to fund grants. To date, the program has distributed more than $7 million in grants to local agencies and individuals in need. Grants must meet one of six qualifying categories: food, clothing, shelter, health, environment, and education.
