The Baldwin County Electric Membership Charitable Foundation recently presented grants to three local agencies. Those agencies include the following:
- Foley Boys and Girls Club, which provides a nurturing environment for local children to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
- The Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center, also known as CARE House, in support of their prevention and intervention services for child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse.
- United Way of Baldwin County, in support of the agency’s emergency assistance program for local residents facing hardships.
Since 2004, Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up program has collected money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills to the next highest dollar amount. The extra change is then used to fund grants. To date, the program has distributed more than $7 million in grants to local agencies and individuals in need. Grants must meet one of six qualifying categories: food, clothing, shelter, health, environment, and education.
